360 Systems Professional Midi Bass introductory ad, 1987. 'This product was so late to market we didn't even have a completed prototype to photograph for its first ad. So I suggested we just show the completed end of the front panel, with the product's logo, and make it look like it was so new it was just coming in from the edge of the page. Brilliant? Probably not. But it did make for a good layout with good movement to it.' https://www.ericwrobbel.com/art/360youaskedforit.htm

You asked for it, but where is it?

High-tech products are notoriosly late to market. So many unforseen problems to contend with. This product was so late we didn’t even have a completed prototype to photograph for its first ad. So I suggested we just show the completed end of the front panel, with the product’s logo, and make it look like it was so new it was just coming in from the edge of the page. Brilliant? Probably not. But it did make for another nice, different, layout that had good movement and a bit of tension. The “It’s Here” could be called ironic, I suppose. It could also be called a lie! But let’s just call it advertising, shall we?
